Fine Victorian coromandel jewellery / dressing box.

A superb large Victorian coromandel jewellery / dressing box, the wonderful veneers enhanced with brass edging and brass line inlays. To the lid is a decorative shield shaped cartouche above a swag.

The box opens to reveal the original velvet-lined interior complete with all the original cut glass and silver plated jars and boxes which are all in remarkably good condition.

A secret button behind the lock keep releases the panel in the lid revealing a reversible mirror and leather document pouch behind. Beneath the glass fitting there are two drawers with original engraved silver plate handles, the top drawer for storing larger items and the lower fitted for jewellery.

The original Bramah lock has been cleaned and refurbished by Bramah with a new key cut so should last another 150+ years.

The box has been cleaned and French polished and is in showroom condition.
