Superb Victorian walnut inlaid jewellery box.

A rare and wonderful Victorian walnut jewellery box, the top and front profusely inlaid with geometric marquetry, the edges banded in ebony. To the top is a central vacant mother of pearl cartouche and to the front a matching keyhole escutcheon.

The box opens to reveal the original interior, re-lined in a black grosgrain cotton fabric and complimentary stone grey plush velvet. The lift-out tray reveals a further storage area beneath. To the right of the box a brass pin releases the sprung side drawer, also re-lined.

We sell many of these boxes but have never come across one with so much detailed inlay, a really fine example.
