Victorian mahogany stationery box by Chapman, Son & Co

A superior quality late Victorian stationery box by Chapman, Son & Co, London. The mahogany case inlaid with satinwood bandings, the top with silvered monogram and the sides with original carry handles.

 

The box opens to reveal the original fitted interior in mahogany with red Moroccan leather. Various slots for stationery including original leather folder to the rear flanked by three mahogany drawers. Beneath is a secret drawer containing two original silver inkwells hallmarked for Wilfred Chidlaw Griffiths, Birmingham and dating the box to 1898.

 

With original Bramah lock.
