Fine Victorian coromandel & brass inlaid jewellery box.

A superb Victorian coromandel jewellery box, the top and front with fine brass lines to enhance the well chosen coromandel veneers. The top has a central engraved circular brass cartouche dating the box to 1861. To the front there is a matching keyhole escutcheon.

The box opens to reveal the original burgundy Moroccan leather interior with gilt highlights. It has been simpathetically re-lined in a burgundy grosgrain material and a luxurious shiraz silk velvet to closely match the original.

To the rear of the box a button releases the front drawer, similarly re-lined in white silk and silk velvet. To the left of the box another button releases the side drawer.

In the lid a secret button behind the lock keep releases the reversible mirror revealing a leather document pouch behind.
