A very fine Victorian sycamore and marquetry inlaid jewllery box of unusually small size, probably a salesmans sample. The top and front inlaid with various geometric marquetry lines, the whole banded in ebony, the lid with a vacant central brass cartouche.
Usually the smaller the box the lower the quality, on this occasion the quality is actually better than the majority of larger boxes. A true collectors piece.
The box retains its original interior including lift-out tray revealing a two compartment section beneath. The box has been re-lined in a plush silver grey velvet.
With working lock & tassled key.
