Fine antique mahogany jewellery box by Milne of Edinburgh

A fine quality antique jewellery box by W & J Milne, 126 Princes Street, Edinburgh. The fiddle back veneered mahogany case with brass banding and string inlays, the sides with flush fitting brass carry handles and the top with central cartouche inscribed Cave Adsum (Beware! I am here.)

The lid opens to reveal a fitted interior lined in purple silk velver and blue/black moroccan leather with gilt highlights. The sectioned top tray is removed to reveal a further shallow tray below which in turn reveals a further storage area beneath.

Makers mark to both trays and also the inside lid. 

With fully working Bramah lock and tassled key.
