Antique mahogany dressing box by W&J Milne, Edinburgh

A fine antique fiddle back mahogany dressing box by W&J Milne, 126 Prince's Street, Edinburgh, with brass banding and stringing, the sides with flush fitting carry handles. With central cartouche engraved Cave Adsum (Beware! I am here!)

The fitted interior with a selection of sterling silver dressing pots jars and boxes and two screw down travelling inkwells. Hallmarked Archibald Douglas, London 1833 The centre compartment with associated silver pocket watch. Some chips to stoppers and several stoppers seized, otherwise excellent condition.

The top tray lifts out to reveal a second tray filled with monogrammed ivory mounted dressing tools (some missing). This tray lifts out to reveal a further storage area containing monogrammed brushes and tools.

The lid lining drops to reveal a further storage area, mirrors sadly lacking.
